Contour
markers denote a method of marking of long and heavy goods
vehicles, their trailers, buses, etc. Vehicles are marked
with reflective ribbons and surfaces, with clearly specified
features. This marking increases visibility and recognition
of such vehicles under difficult road conditions.
According to a special procedure, contour marking is attached
on both lateral sides, as well as on the rear side of a vehicle.

The
use of contour marking is governed by the regulation on
homologation of retro-reflective markers for long and heavy
goods vehicles and their trailers (Official Gazette of October
06, 2000) and is implemented pursuant to the Rules ECE R 104.

As
of April 01, 2001 all long and heavy goods vehicles
and their trailers must be marked with retro-reflective
contour and distinguishing markers, homologated pursuant
to the ECE R 104.
